Returnable cup system

Brno was the first city in the country to institute a system of returnable cups at all its Christmas markets, throughout the centre. This year, once again, you can enjoy your favourite drinks in eco-friendly returnable cups. You can then return them for the deposit at any stand with drinks, bring them home with you as a souvenir or for the next trip, or send your deposit to a charity as part of the Daruj Kelímek (Donate Your Cup) project.

The uniform deposit for cups and mugs is CZK 50, and cups in this year’s visual style will be available.

Donate your cup to charity

Thanks to the idea from several sellers at the Brno Christmas markets and the eco-friendly return system, you can just finish your drink, take it to a stand marked Daruj Kelímek, and decide to which of the 18 charitable aims from 6 categories you want to donate your deposit from the cup you’re returning. The categories? Children and family, humanitarian aid, people with disabilities, seniors, sustainability, and animals.

Public transport

To get to Brno Christmas, use tram line 1 (Main Train Station, Malinovského náměstí, or Moravské náměstí), 2 (Main Train Station), or 9 (Main Train Station or Moravské náměstí) or one of 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, or 12 (Česká) and then walk. Trolleybuses 31 and 33 and bus 67 go to the Main Train Station and trolleybuses 32, 34, and 36 to Česká.

Christmas tram

The Christmas tram is the only means of transport that can regularly push through the crowds in the city centre without drawing outrage. Its Advent decorations light up smiles, and everyone wants a photo. How about first taking a ride? Christmas shouldn’t be only about shopping, but also shared experiences. Catch the Christmas tram and enjoy the most festive trip you can possibly experience on public transit. More at dpmb.cz or on the Dopravní podnik města Brna Facebook page.

Parking

Ideal parking can be found at the Domini park (enter from Husova Street) and JD Parking (enter from Moravské náměstí) car parks. Around the Brno centre is a blue parking zone, which you can use for free at weekends.

Did you know the wooden Christmas star by the Church of St Michael is almost four meters high?
