Christmas tree lighting

Start Advent in Brno and come on Friday, November 27, 2026, to the festive lighting of the Christmas tree in the Square of Liberty. This is where the very first public Christmas tree in our country stood back in 1924, and quite possibly in all of Central Europe as well. This year we will commemorate its 102nd anniversary and together we will launch Brno Christmas. 

The cultural program is ready from 15:30. You will hear Christmas carols and songs performed by the Kantilénka preparatory choir under the direction of choir mistress Veronika Slavíková. This will be followed by aerial acrobatics performed by AirGym Art Company. The ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree will take place at 17:00 in the presence of leading representatives of the city and the Bishopric of Brno. Soňa Baranová and Ondřej Blaho will host the opening of Brno Christmas.
