Refillable cup system

Brno was the first city in the Czech Republic to introduce a system of returnable packaging for Christmas markets, and all markets in the city centre use the same packaging. This year you can also enjoy your favourite drink ecologically from returnable cups. Afterwards, you can either return the deposit for it at any of the drinks stalls, take it home as a souvenir or keep it for next time, or donate the deposit from it to charity as part of the Donate a Cup project.

The uniform refundable deposit per cup is 50 CZK.

You can buy a non-returnable cap for 10 CZK for the cup at selected stands.
In the special refundable kiosks, the deposit is refunded only in cash (to the card), the refund will be credited to your account within 5 working days.

Donate a cup to charity

Thanks to the idea of several vendors at the Christmas markets in Brno and the ecological returnable system, all you have to do is finish your drink, take it to the Donate a Cup stand and decide which of the 18 charities in 6 categories you will donate the returnable deposit for the cup you hand in. And the categories? Children and family, humanitarian aid, people with disabilities, seniors, sustainability and animals.

INTERCITY TRANSPORT

The best way to get to (and from) Brno is by train, bus or plane.

Trains run directly to the city centre, where the Brno Christmas takes place. On foot, it is no more than a 10-minute slow walk from Brno Central Station (Nádražní Street) to the Christmas market. Trains to and from Brno Central Station connect Prague, Vienna, Graz, Bratislava, Budapest, Berlin and Ostrava, from where you can travel even further. On weekdays, it is also possible to travel by direct overnight train to Košice.

Bus lines leave regularly from Zvonařka Station (Zvonařka Street, 20 minutes walk to the centre or tram No.12 from the Bus Station stop to Hlavní nádraží) or from Grand (Benešova Street, 10 minutes walk to the centre) to many European cities including those in the Czech Republic.

The airport is located in Tuřany and there is a regular public transport bus number E76 from and to the main railway station. Regular services fly to London and Milan/Bergamo. Other nearby airports are in Vienna, Bratislava, Prague and Vienna and Prague airports can be reached by train or RegioJet buses.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

From all these transport hubs, the Christmas markets are a 5-10 minute slow walk away.

Česká (trams 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 12; trolleybuses 32, 34 and 36)

Main Railway Station (trams 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12; trolleybuses 31, 33; buses 47, 67, E76 - airport connection)

Malinovsky Square (trams 1, 2, 7 and 10; bus 67)

Šilingrovo náměstí (trams 5, 6 and 12)

CHRISTMAS TRAM

The Christmas Shuttle is the only means of transport that can afford to regularly make its way through the crowds in the city centre without arousing their disapproval. Its Advent makeover brightens smiles and makes everyone want to take a picture. Let alone take a ride. Christmas shouldn't just be about shopping, but about shared experiences. Catch a Christmas carriage and experience the most festive ride you can have on public transport! For more information, visit dpmb.cz or the Brno City Transport Company's Facebook page.

The timetable for the Christmas tram can be found at here.

PARKING

For parking, due to its location near the market, you can use the Domini park parking house (entrance from Husova Street) and JD Parking (entrance from Moravské náměstí). There is a blue parking zone around the centre of Brno, which can be used for free on weekends.
