Pavel Korbička's work deals with issues related to space and light. He also enters the space of St. James Church with a new light installation. At first glance, however, the simple neon line has its justification. The trough works with the symbolism of the gradually illuminating pilgrim's staff of St. James, installed in the central part of the main nave of the church. This staff consists of four interlocking parts, its total length corresponding to approximately one third of the height of the vault. On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, when the last fourth part is lit, the lighted staff touches the head of the statue of St James on the altar from the perspective of the visitor. The visitor to the church at Christmas time can thus also perceive its space through a modern art installation that both refers to the attribute of James himself, but also works sensitively with the space and the spiritual references that this mystical place offers for reading.
