Church of St. John with Loreto

The Church of St. John, the Evangelist and the Baptist has been an integral part of Brno since the 13th century, although its appearance has changed over the centuries, especially in the Baroque period after the reconstruction led by architect Mořic Grimm. The prominent architect Mořic Grimm built the Loreto, an imitation of the Holy Family House, next to the Church of St. John. A few years later, it was Grimm again who undertook the design of the new church, which towered over the Loretto hut. It included the Holy Steps, a replica of the Jerusalem steps that Jesus Christ walked up to Pilate.
