Church of St. Michael

The Roman Catholic Church is located next to the New Town Hall. It is a real Baroque gem that is worth a visit! Gregor Johann Mendel, among others, studied theology at the seminary on Dominican Square. He was then ordained a priest in St. Michael's Church and celebrated his first Mass there on 15 August 1847.

Church of St. Thomas

The Baroque church of St. Thomas was built from the 14th century as a convent church of the Augustinians and a burial church of the Margrave of Luxembourg. Famous names such as John the Baptist Erna and Moritz Grimm were responsible for its renovation and reconstruction. In the tomb in front of the main altar, which is the work of the Austrian painter Franz Anton Maulbertsch, the remains of Margrave Josht of Luxembourg are buried.

Church of St. Mary Magdalene

On the busy Masaryk Street stands the simple church of St. Mary Magdalene, built in 1651-1654. The interior of the church is decorated with Baroque works of art, the altar painting of St. Mary Magdalene is a copy of Rubens' original. After a recent accident, the church is structurally sound and reconstruction is being prepared.

The Church of St. James in Brno is one of the most valuable monuments of late Gothic architecture in the Czech Republic. Visitors can expect to see 15+ local brands and makers working under KUMST's roof in fashion, jewellery, ceramics and porcelain, graphic design and print, interior design, accessories and gastronomy.

Morgal Café

You can look forward to a varied programme in the Morgal Gallery Café during Advent. There will be a Christmas clothes and accessories cutter, art workshops focused on creating Christmas decorations and prints, and an apple barbecue over the fireplace in the courtyard of Pražák Palace.

Visit the new Typika Café in the Moravian Gallery during Christmas in Brno. Great coffee, winter drinks and a quiet atmosphere await you, which is ideal for visiting the Art in Your Pocket exhibition, open for free. Sitting in the café is currently enriched by the sound of tinkling glass from a special installation of the Květná 1794 glassworks.

Platz courtyard
